Item: Prokofiev Russian Impressionist House in Landscape OLD Antique Oil Painting. Please note that there is a reflection off the varnish on the upper left. Artist: Prokofiev
Provenance: Private San Jose, California Estate.
Signed: Signed by Prokofiev (in Cyrillic) on the lower center. There is contemporary handwriting on a piece of paper attached to the back of the painting that identifies the artist.
Medium: Oil on board.
Painting’s Size: 18.5″ by 12″.
Framed: No.
Painting’s Condition: The four corners have wear. The worst of the four corners can be seen in digital image #7. Please enlarge the digital images to see the extent of this damage.
Special Shipping: Yes. The buyer will also only pay the actual shipping cost or less. There is no charge for handling, materials or for transporting it to the shipper.
Ultraviolet Light Test: About 25% scattered inpainting. Prokofiev’s signature is original to the painting.
Additional comments: There are several listed artists that share “Prokofiev” as being their last name. Since this is a last-minute addition to this week’s sale, I haven’t had time to properly research it. So, I don’t know if this was done by one of the listed artists that share this name or not. Based on quality, age and style, this antique oil painting by Prokofiev is definitely worthy of being properly researched!
