Description
Aba Fenichel (1906 – 1986) is generally considered the most accomplished and well-known Jewish visual artist from Mielec. He was the youngest of five children of master painter Isaac Fenichel (who painted the Mielec Synagogue with his brother Israel Hirsch) and Chana Ostrow and the only member of his immediate family to survive the Shoah. After the war he emigrated to Israel and prospered as an artist and teacher in Tel Aviv until his death in 1986. Many of Aba Fenichel’s works have been exhibited in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Negev Museum of Art, and the Mishkan LeOmanut Museum of Art at Ein Harod. There are over 190 works in the Ghetto Fighters House Archives collection.
