GUSTAVE ANTOINE GUILLAUMET ( 1840 – 1887 ) Title:       “Arabs at Biskra – 1879”

 

 

A very beautiful oil on canvas attributed to Gustave Guillaumet. The work is signed and titled verso and depicts arab figures in a street at Biskra in north east Algeria in 1879. The work has the most wonderful light especially through the archway with the figures in the shade. A beautiful painting. Inscribed, dated and titled verso.
