Originally from Long Island he grew up following painters like Salvatore Dali, Georgia O Keeffe, Norman Rockwell and Thomas Kinkade…all still active at that time. He has always maintained the highest standard in originality creating everything by hand…over 25,000 individuals items that include signs, logos, renderings, movie posters, show bills, and acrylic paintings – the latter of which he concentrates on to this day.
He studied Architectural Design & History at the New York Institute of Technology and Design Drafting with LaSalle. His first one man/one month library exhibit took place at age twenty-two. His 2005 mural entitled OZ was a front page story in Connecticut. He started the Colorful Thoroughbreds series and established the term colorspot to describe a painting technique. a fresh addition to Steve s growing catalogue of work. I like to challenge myself every time I stand in front of a blank canvas says the Southington Artist. A fan of nature, having spent many a Summer day in the Adirondack Mountains, he devotes a lot of time to creating colorful expressive landscapes. He also enjoys featuring figurative elements such as horses, cats, and swans in some of his pieces. On occasion he will cross the spectrum to abstract and even the surreal. He works in all sizes and his images are available in many material formats. Steve uses brushes, palette knives, fingertips and other tools to achieve results. He has a fondness for stretched canvas and frameless gallery-wrap styling. All of his original paintings are 100% hand-made.
