“ Figures and boats in a bay by moonlight

A very beautiful and very large 18th century Italian old master oil on canvas depicting a moonlight scene with figures and boats in a bay and a rocky island in the distance with a castle. The work is on canvas and has been relined around 1900. It has some old retouchings and would benefit greatly from cleaning. A very fine quality work which requires research. The execution of the figures in the boat to the right suggests the work is definitely of Italian origin. Superb detail to the figures and landscape.
