Artist biography:

Jane Kenoyer, an American artist, graduated in 2010 from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She wrote the ballet, Shanghaied . Kenoyer, however, is best known for her visual artwork of fine oil paintings. During a hands-on internship at the Roq la Rue Gallery in Seattle, Washington she learned about the inner workings of gallery practices. The internship experience was invaluable in helping her produce many solo exhibitions over the last several years.

She has shown work at the Roq La Rue Gallery, Modern Eden Gallery, Stremmel Gallery, and the Sheppard Fine Art Gallery. Her work primarily focuses on highly detailed portraits reflecting real and imagined memories as well as connections to her families’ oral history and story telling. Kenoyer’s great-grandmother Pearl is the origin of why she depicts the female figure in her paintings.

For Kenoyer these connections spill over into the present and ultimately speak to the idea of human experience. She recognizes that these unique memories and moments in time cannot be recreated or replaced, they can only be re-imagined.

Kenoyer has had extensive experience in a wide variety of the arts including writing a ballet entitled Shanghaied. After a year and a half in production, working closely with choreographer, Barbara Land and composer, Jean-Paul Perrotte, her paintings came to life through the movement of classical ballet and an original musical score. During the early years of attending college she also studied architecture and worked for an architectural firm for several years designing expansive concrete skateboard parks.

Since graduating from UNR, Kenoyer has traveled extensively to various countries, including Germany, Switzerland, and France. One of Kenoyer’s most rewarding traveling experiences was teaching art to over thirty children deep in the Peruvian rainforest of South America. Kenoyer is currently the creative director and co-owner of the software company Orange Room Software. Kenoyer continues to create art work in her studio each day. She also spends time pursuing writing and has written for Hi-Fructose Art Magazine.

Collectors of her work include internationally known gallery owner Kirsten Anderson, Merilyn Melton, Michael Sarich, Brett Van Hoesen, and Suzy Kahl, owner of Kahl Commercial Interiors Inc.
