Description
original antique oil painting — this is a copy of a famous work by John George Brown (US 1831-1913); titled the Shoe Shine Boy — this was painted circa 1890s-1910s period — beautiful piece showing a boy with his foot stool strapped over his shoulder, holding a shoe — the painting is oil on artist board in a wood frame – the frame is a bit newer probably circa 1940s or 50s — signed by the artist in the lower left Spery Wilson with the additional word: Copy —
— the last two pictures show an original engraving of this work in the Library of Congress —
— the painting measures app. 12 1/2 by 20 in. – the frame is 16 by 23 1/2 in. —
— there is a light crease in the surface above the boy s head, otherwise the painting is in overall nice condition: likely could use cleaning as with any old estate find painting — frame is newer and in nice condition – the backing paper has been opened to inspect the painting —
