A registered member of the Oglala Sioux tribe, Rich is self taught and has always been drawn to executing works in a rather abstract manner with blazing colors believing it to project the traits of the Lakota Sioux quite well. This fine painting is executed in acrylic on canvas and is titled Sun Dancers . Depicting two dancers at the works center blowing smoke towards a blue long horn skull, the stand in front of an absolutely blazing sunset while a line of dancers fade into the distance. A fine, almost chaotic pattern swirls around casting the warm center with a cool blue above and soft purple below. Signed low right Rich Red Owl the painting measures 20 x 24 inches while its black wood frame measures 22.75 x 26.75 inches. Titled on the back stretcher as shown photographed, the condition of this painting is extremely fine with the only cosmetic imperfections being present to its chipped/scratched frame.
